Jackie and Marilyn | Orange, Owls and Octopuses

I love animal prints and bold colors, so I combined them for a perfectly fall outfit!IMG_4221If anyone ever tells you “That’s too much color,” you tell that person to put a sock in it! There is no such thing. Someone else might have paired the owls with something more subtle, but subtle is for the dogs.

IMG_4224I wanted to wear the orange heels with this dress and separately I paired the purple tights with the print. Purple and orange are not colors I would put together, but when I did it was perfect!

IMG_4253To keep on an O and bold theme, I chose an octopus necklace to go with the dress. I didn’t have any oval earrings so I chose my circle arrows instead 🙂

IMG_4236IMG_4237What I Wore:
Dress: ModCloth
Cardigan: ModCloth (other colors)
Necklace: Vinted
Earrings: A Delightful Shop
Tights: Target
Shoes: BAIT Footwear

The lesson for the week is be bold. Be beautiful. Be you 🙂

Jackie Style: Give a Hoot

For days the forecast has indicated a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms. For days we haven’t seen any rain. So when I was planning my outfit for this week, I was so certain I would be able to take photos yesterday evening. Right as I was ready to bring out the camera, guess what? It rain. Scratch that – it poured.

Blurg.

Luckily I got a couple decent shots before a very short, intense, and wet thunderstorm crashed through the neighborhood.

I’ve been wanting to share this outfit for a while. Not only is the owl print blouse adorable, but I am in love with this skirt. Big pockets, nice lining, elastic waistband, neutral color. So many tops in my closet will pair well with this piece. Finding a staple you adore can make such a difference to your wardrobe, and it really helps create whole new outfits you can be comfortable with!

IMG_5154
I wore my owl shoes because they’re fun, and an outfit can never have too many owls, right? Of course not 🙂 I also brought out an older pair of apple earrings, which I re-found in my cluster of jewelry. They make me feel a little like a kindergarten teacher, but in the best way.

What is one of your favorite outfit staples?

Jackie Style: Animals and Moms

What does the fox say? The fox says “Dang girl, where did you get that skirt??”

IMG_3652
I picked up this lovely piece from Ruche on an impulse, and I am so glad I did! It’s so fun and it breathes well. Plus, foxes!

IMG_3640
My favorite thing about this skirt when I wore it on Saturday was its elastic waistband. I spent the day in Stillwater, MN with my mom for a Mother’s Day celebration and we ate at Leo’s, an amazing burger and malt shop. We had pretty full bellies! We walked it off plenty while antiquing and browsing local boutiques, where my mom was a bad influence! Let’s just say I have a few new pieces for the blog later this summer 🙂

IMG_3637
This outfit has a bit of an animal theme. In addition to the foxes, my flats have a gorgeous owl print. Time to find an animal print blouse to finish it off!

IMG_3649
After shopping around and a delicious wine tasting, my mom was nice enough to take photos for me. It’s just a thimble of the ocean of things she has done for me. Happy belated Mother’s Day to my mom! Love you!

Jackie Style: 55 Degrees!

It was 55 degrees in Minnesota! 55! If this is not an occasion that calls for wearing a twirly skirt, I don’t know what is!

IMG_2484_2

I’m well-suited for this state – I’d rather have to layer up on a cold day than be inundated with heat – but even I can get behind the celebration of warmer weather. I have some spring outfits just waiting to greet the season!

IMG_2477_2

I wore ribbed tights and a cardigan with my dress because it’s still not that warm, but I didn’t even bother with my winter coat when I walked to my car after work. The windows were rolled down and the music was blaring on my commute home. SPRING!

IMG_2470_2I’m a big fan of cloche hats and was excited to sport this one. I’ve had it for years and the longer I own it, the more I appreciate it. Don’t you love when items in your closet just grow on you like that?

I also have to gush about the ribbed heart tights I am wearing. They are super warm and insanely cute! A friend recently introduced me to Brickyard Buffalo, which I described to my husband as “like Groupon or SlickDeals, but all adorable things.” I am officially obsessed. So while you can’t get these tights anymore, you can check them out and keep an eye on other deals!

This spring is going to be a good one, I can feel it. All I can do is hope that any late March snow (which is inevitable) melts away fast!
